Manufactured by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, the A6M5 Zero is a type of propeller-manipulated fighter aircraft, which was used as the main fighter aircraft of the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service from 1940 to 1945. With its unparalleled mobility and speed, it became very famous in the early years of conflict. It carried various monikers such as the Mitsubishi Navy 12-shi Carrier Fighter and the Mitsubishi A6M Rei-Sen. Among the Allies, the aircraft was usually dubbed as the ‘Zero’ because of its designation as ‘Navy Type 0 Carrier Fighter.’ However, its official name is known to be Zeke. During the final stages of the War in the Pacific, the A6M5 Zero has been assigned in kamikaze operations. As the war went on, there more Zeros that were made than any other Japanese fighting aircraft.
